Women and Men Respond Differently to the Recession

LEEDS, England, March 25, 2010 - Male and female shoppers reacted differently to both the recession and
the impact of this on their finances. Whether shoppers now go online to

to significantly cut their spending in 2009, whilst only 62% of men did.
Also, whilst one in ten men admitted that due to the recession they hardly

different. Research by Paypal found that men were quicker to resort to the
internet when the recession first hit, realising it's potential for cheaper
products. 12.9 million men in the UK now shop online, compared with just 10.3
women. Since 2006, 839,000 extra men are now shopping online compared with an
additional 400,000 women.
However, this could be simply that women already understood the saving

found product popularity.
The way men and women dealt with the recession differed significantly.

more women went out for meals than men.
