PASCO scientific, LJ Create and Promethean Create Technology Solutions for Kazakh Educators
ASTANA, Kazakhstan, February 17 - Nurecom today announced the latest technology tools from the consortium
of companies working collectively as part of the Presidential Interactive
Learning and Teaching Initiative (PILT) project to modernize science
education in Kazakhstan. Tools from PILT partners PASCO scientific, LJ Create
and Promethean were announced at "Education and Science of the XXI Century
2010," the VII Kazakhstan International Exhibition supported by the Ministry
of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Akimat of the
South-Kazakhstan Region.
"These new tools are the continuation of cutting edge technology and
support from companies collaborating as part of the PILT Project to create a
new pedagogy for teaching and learning in a knowledge-based economy," said
Nuraly Kudaibergenuly, Director of Nurecom. "Specifically, these companies
have translated software programs into Russian and introduced tools that will
allow teachers to easily create or adapt curriculum to serve the needs of
Kazakh students and help us continue to support our goal of creating a
modernized education system. These technologies enable innovation across the
curriculum, especially in language, math and science."
PASCO unveiled the Russian and Kazakh language versions of the
award-winning SPARK Science Learning System, an all-in-one mobile device for
discovery-based science; and SPARKvue
(www.pasco.com/featured-products/sparkvue/index.cfm), a software
application that works with sensor interfaces to bring the capabilities of
SPARK to other computing environments. The company also previewed an
authoring toolkit to enable educators to create original labs relevant to
Kazakhstan's national science standards. The Russian and Kazakh versions and
the authoring kit will be available in March.
The U.K.-based LJ Create (www.ljcreate.com/) offers topic specific
learning solutions and complete classroom management systems for education in
science, math, engineering and mathematics curricula. LJ Create recently
launched the Russian version of its Digiac Autotronics Modules, which provide
a cost-effective solution to teaching auto electronics and diagnostics across
a number of levels. All the instructional materials are in eContent format
and are fully translated into Russian.
Promethean (www.prometheanworld.com/), a global leader in
interactive learning technology such as whiteboards, software and learning
response systems, showed the recently transformed visual and experiential
design of its award-winning ActivClassroom, an integrated suite of solutions
providing time-saving technology for teachers and engaging informative
content for the modern-day classroom. ActivClassroom has been proven to
significantly raise achievement levels. The company recently completed
significant upgrades to its entire product line.
Over the last two years, Kazakhstan's mission to create a 21st century
learning environment for all its students has gone from vision to reality.
Under the direction of Zhanseit Tuimebayev, Minister of Education and
Science, educational best practices and technology are being deployed to
better position Kazakhstan as one of the top 50 developed nations in the
world. The PILT project has made substantial progress toward this goal. To
date, PILT partners have provided 1,700 classrooms with hands-on, interactive
science education technology, including datalogging technology, interactive
whiteboards and complete classroom management systems. More than 8,000
teachers have been trained in the new technology-based pedagogy.
