Focus on Gulf Oil Catastrophe this Week

Smith Teaches ViennaLaw, July 28, 2010 - Stuart H. Smith, J.D. '86, a major Loyola University New Orleans
supporter and New Orleans attorney who excels in fighting corporate oil and
gas abuses, including the recent Deepwater Horizon catastrophe in the Gulf of
Mexico
, will be a featured instructor at the Loyola University Summer
International Environmental Law Program at the University of Vienna Law
School.

The two-week focus on environmental law began July 20 and ends July 30.
Mr. Smith's sessions this week will focus on environmental issues and
radiation, as well as the current oil crisis impacting the Gulf Coast.

The Loyola Summer Environmental Law program is directed by Markus Puder,
Ph.D., associate professor of law. Puder teaches comparative, Civil and Roman
law; environmental and energy law; and public international law and the law
of the European Union. He has previously been employed in the Environmental
Science Division of Argonne National Laboratory, a U.S. Department of Energy
laboratory, while holding lectureships at the Georgetown University Law
Center and the George Washington University School of Law.

In 2008, Mr. Smith, a College of Law graduate, pledged a US$1.25 million
gift to the College. Part of the pledge was dedicated to recently begun
renovations to the Dominican Conference Center, which will eventually house
existing offices from the College of Law, including the Stuart H. Smith Law
Clinic and Center for Social Justice.
