WASHINGTON, October 5, 2010 - Various Muslim leaders around the world have called for death or
punishment for Americans who tear, burn, or desecrate the Quran. (Link

We have asked Imam Abdul Rauf to join us in NYC, and the Executive
Director of CAIR, Nihad Awad, to join us in Washington DC, to tell the world
plainly that they renounce these threats, and the violence against Christians
around the world that resulted from Quran protests in America.

We invite them, and Muslim leaders in America, to sign the following
statement, and make it known to Muslims throughout the world:

"We, American Muslims, denounce the calls for violence against those who
burn, tear, or otherwise 'desecrate' Qurans, and we call on Muslim Imams,
Muftis, Ayatollahs, and political leaders in Muslim nations throughout the
world to cease persecuting Christians, Jews, and others who proclaim their
faiths, and thereby differ with Muhammad, Islam and Sharia law."

Randall Terry, President of Society for Truth and Justice, states:

"We invite you - the Islamic political and religious leaders of Saudi
Arabia, Iran, Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan, Yemen, Syria, and other Islamic
nations - to cease imposing Sharia law on your citizens. Be men of honor and
courage: Lay down the sword of Muhammad, and respect the right of all peoples
in your realms to publicly practice their religion, as defined in the U.N.
Universal Declaration of Human Rights."

Universal Declaration states:

Article 18.

"Everyone has the right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion;
this right includes freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom,
either alone or in community with others and in public or private, to
manifest his religion or belief in teaching, practice, worship and
observance."

Article 19.

"Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression; this right
includes freedom to hold opinions without interference and to seek, receive
and impart information and ideas through any media and regardless of
frontiers."
